TIMBER

Timber frames are now being used for around one in four new homes being built in the UK.

They can be constructed quicker on site, this makes weather less of an issue. Timber framing also caters for a wide range of budgets that the customer/client has, from pre-made packages to fully bespoke architect-designed projects.

Timber is a raw material, which is sustainable, even more so if it has been sourced locally. It is impossible to tell the difference between a timber frame house and a masonry house from the outside. This is due to the fact that the external structure is unaffected by which type of interior walls you choose to use. The exterior decorative skin is constructed the same way as any other block house, so whether you are using bricks, timber cladding, stone or rendered block work, you will achieve the same visual outcome as if your internal frame was traditional block work.

Timber frames are mainly hollow, this enables timber framing to be fairly easy to insulate to a quality standard, whilst still having a cavity,. A timber frame will heat up and cool down quicker than a solid masonry home. If constructed properly timber frame buildings will last for hundreds of years.
